I grew up in Baja, Mexico; my house was about a mile away from the beach. However, I never learned how to swim, as I was busy learning brickwork, paintwork, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, mechanics, electronics, welding, cooking, and Microsoft Excel. Thanks to those trades and my alma mater Cecyte BC, I was able to land a position as a Maintenance Technician in one of the most luxurious commercial and residential towers on the west coast. My teammates called me Junior because I was the youngest member of the crew. Together we had a lot of fun taking care of the facilities and equipment, for example, one of my teammates even used to name each engine after different magazine models. I loved every bit of it. I was in love with fixing the grinding door, fixing that annoying leak, and freeing Mrs. Martinez out of the elevator because she’s trapped again, but she gives you strawberry candy as a way to say, “you saved my life.”
Being at the service of a community is a privilege; it easily grows into you when you pour your heart into your work. Most recently I have been providing management services for industrial facilities. It took a while but I believe I’m finally where I belong. Among your local property-related first responders, who you might call next time there’s trouble, your friends at Roost always at your service! I still have to learn how to swim though…
